Lower East Side Tenement Museum Visitor's Center
New York, NY

The Lower East Side Tenement Museum Visitor Center project was comprised of the renovation of three lower floors, including new systems, retail, orientation, education and visitor center, restrooms and administrative offices.  The finished facility at 103 Orchard Street has interactive exhibits on the ground floor, classrooms and presentation rooms on the second floor.

The new space permits more ambitious programming for larger audiences, and includes a theater showing films to visitors waiting for or returning from tours. The second floor education center has three state-of-the-art classrooms and a demonstration kitchen. The basement includes service areas, restrooms and offices.

Levien & Company provided project management services for this unusual museum fit out within a traditionally residential building.
