Nightingale-Bamford School |
This 93-year old all girls school on the upper East Side of Manhattan purchased two four-story townhouses adjacent to their existing building. The recently completed project combined the two new buildings with the existing structure. The expansion will relieve serious overcrowding by increasing classroom and activity spaces while enabling the use of new technologies and techniques. It will also allow the school to increase enrollment. In addition to the expansion, many spaces within in the existing school building were renovated. The project is seeking a LEED Certification and incorporated many environmentally-conscious measures including planted rooftops, reuse of storm water drainage for irrigation, efficient mechanical equipment and locally-sourced materials.
