Rockefeller Brothers Fund Corporate Headquarters |
The Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) is a private family foundation dedicated to promoting social change. In 2008, RBF wanted to align its real estate and office policies to better meet its financial and sustainability goals. The Fund's move to the Interchurch Center, located in Morningside Heights, resonated with RBF based upon the Interchurch Center’s historic relevance to the Rockefeller family, who established it to support not-for-profit organizations. In addition, the family donated the land upon which the Interchurch Center's building is located. The move provided RBF with an opportunity to construct a green space for its corporate headquarters that is both energy efficient and environmentally sensitive. The money saved by the reduced rent will enable increased grant-making.
The project has earned LEED-Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The new office demonstrates RBF’s commitment to sustainability and their desire to provide their staff with an open, egalitarian and carbon neutral work environment.
